Dr. Gaston is the most caring, creative and enthusiastic educator imaginable. I had the pleasure of working with her for eight years at an elementary school in Arlington, Virginia, and without question, she was one of the most beloved teachers by both students and their parents. This admiration came from her understanding of students as individuals, her imagination and energy when storytelling, and her dedication to putting on performances and events for students that engaged and excited them beyond the classroom. Her books in our library were constantly checked out, and students (including those who had moved on to middle school) were always coming by her office just to say hi. Her performances every year for Black History Month were legendary, her weekly Wednesday morning book shares generated increased demand for library books and her story time for rising kindergarteners had new students ready to start school. Sharon is a gifted storyteller, writer and teacher — a true asset to any organization or project with which she is involved.

The Vision

Storytelling is a great way to make learning fun for students. By engaging their imagination and curiosity, they can learn new things while having fun.

Dr. Sharon Gaston delivers a highly energetic and animated storytelling performance using dramatic voices, instruments and movement.

Her witty and charming books promote character education, reading comprehension and vocabulary development. Students are also introduced to characters that teach life's lessons and universal truths in an entertaining but educational way.
